ABOUT US

A multidisciplinary consortium working with a holistic approach, from technology development and pilot implementation to stakeholder engagement and policy alignment.

About us

Seaglow is a consortium of 16 Partners from across the European Union, Norway, and Thailand.

This EU-funded initiative, led by the North Denmark EU Office, brings together a multidisciplinary team with expertise from research institutions, the fishing industry and SMEs. The project includes leading scientists in marine and sustainable energy, companies specializing in hybrid propulsion systems, methanol engines, and anti-fouling technologies, as well as innovators in sensor solutions. Fishing associations and policy experts ensure that these technological advancements align with the needs of small-scale fishers and support EU sustainability goals, driving impactful change to reduce fossil fuel dependence and restore marine ecosystems.

The ambition of the SEAGLOW consortium is to demonstrate that using the right combination of technologies can be a game-changer for small-scale fisheries, enabling the cost-efficient reduction of fuel consumption. This approach not only benefits the fishing community by improving their well-being but also reduces dependency on fossil fuels, accelerates opportunities for positive change, and contributes to the restoration of marine ecosystems.

Seaglow is scheduled to be implemented during at least 48 months, starting April 2024

The SEAGLOW consortium designs, constructs and operates five technology pilots, including the replacement of conventional diesel engines and use of E-coating and sensor technologies, on four vessels in Denmark, Estonia, Norway, and Sweden.
